Bid on a brand new Honda or Yamaha and help "Save McAdam Park" this Sunday!
25-10-2007

On the last weekend of October (27-28) the international stars of motocross
racing will descend upon Barrabool, Geelong in a bid to take out the winner’s
podium at the 2007 Oceania Motocross Championships. Across the weekend, spectators
will be treated to six classes of adrenaline packed racing, along
with fund raising activities in a bid to “Save McAdam Park”.
At lunchtime on Sunday (October 28), the “Saving McAdam Park Auction” is set to finish off the weekend’s fundraising extravaganza. The two leading bike manufacturers, Honda and Yamaha, along with Peter Stevens, ready to delve deep in support of the cause, are offering two one of a kind motocross and trail bikes.
On offer is an ‘08 Honda CRF 250 motocrosser, and a Yamaha WR 250 F trail bike. Other sponsors have also come on board to deck out the bikes with an array of ‘go-fast’ parts as well as being kitted out with one-off Oceania graphics by Ringmaster, black rims by Excel, quality accessories by Storm, with a Weapon MX pipe and bash plate by 100% MX, race parts by GYTR for the WR and the revolutionary handlebar mounted Clake combination clutch and rear brake for the Honda, making these bikes a one in a million ride, with a retail value of approximately $13,000 each!
The winning bidders of the auction will also be thanked for their support for the “Save McAdam Park” campaign with a 2007 and 2008 membership to the SMCC so their new bikes can be put to good use and thoroughly admired! They will also be given the opportunity to be an official sponsor of the Big Picture Wall - another fundraising activity in which people become sponsors of individual tiles inscribed with their name that will make up a wall in support of the much loved park.
Also on offer at the auction will be autographed, framed jerseys from internationally acclaimed motocross riders Josh Coppins and Ryan “Ryno” Hughes. The auction will demonstrate just how dedicated the Geelong locals and motorsport fans are to the cause.
“We have to thank Honda and Yamaha for their amazing contribution to
our fund raising cause, said Peter Ovens Sporting Moto Cycle Club, "Save
McAdam Park” coordinator.
“We have approached all the major manufacturers and know they want to step
up. Honda MPE and Yamaha Motor Australia are leading the way in being good corporate
Samaritans, so too is KTM who were first to support our Big Picture Wall when
it was launched.”
“These auction items are amazing and we hoping for some pretty good results to go towards saving our Park”.
“The motorcycle community is being called upon to increase their efforts, to salvage the cherished McAdam Park, second home and sanctuary to the many motocross riders of the area,” said Ovens.
